Rude and unprofessional staff
So disappointed. Stayed here for 3 nights in July 2021 with our young kids. While we knew there would be restrictions with covid in advance (the play area was closed), I wish they would have been upfront on the website that you only get one 30-minute time slot for the pool per day- it just wasn't quite enough time for the kids. However, the real thing that bothered me (and reason for the 1-star review) was how rude and condescending the staff was. We dealt with 5 different employees over the course of our stay and 4 of them were rude to us for no reason. They were behaving as if we were an inconvenience. Just going to the counter to check in, book a pool time, or to ask how the bus passes worked seemed to be a problem for them. Both my husband and I had the same experience with different employees. Our room itself was fine- I wasn't expecting anything fancy based on the pictures or reviews I had read. In fact, I prefer to stay somewhere where everything isn't new and shiny, given our young kids. But for $300/night I definitely expected better overall- especially since there were so few amenities due to covid (keep in mind, our stay was after covid restrictions had been lifted provincially). Our TVs didn't work, but the employee they sent to fix them was the one great employee we met, and he had the issue fixed quickly. Still, I just felt like they did not want us there. So they don't need to worry, we won't be back...

Charging full summer rates with no services
Booked on line for six nights. BBQ area cannot be used, due to COVID despite it is after July 1 . No house keeping services, again COVID. Hotel is dated and is need of repairs. in our studio , dishwasher not working, cupboards doors lose, toilet leaking.
When questioned as to full summer rates and no service front desk smiles and blames COVID.
Would not recommended this hotel. Given the choices in Banff we will stay elsewhere for a similar rate,

The dirt shack
This resort is completely outdated, they did not change our sheets or clean our room once during our stay, and when my pregnant fiancé phoned about getting towels, the manager verbally harassed her about a pool time that we missed by accident and hung up on her. When I confronted them about this incident they they responded with "we are no impressed with you". The Douglas fir doesn't Seem to care about there guests from My experience. I will not be staying here again.

Hotel great, Booking service out to lunch
This hotel is definitely a little old, but still very charming. We stayed in a loft in the main lodge for the weekend. Beds were comfy, rooms were clean, COVID protocols were taken seriously, LOVED the wood burning fireplace. Lovely to have a kitchen too. The staff were very friendly, particular shout out to the young woman from Ireland, she was absolutley lovely. Our only complaint is the room wasnt cleaned despite putting the "please make up room" sign out.
HOWEVER. When I called to book this hotel, I got a lot of Misinformation. I don't blame the hotel staff bc it's a 1 800 number, so it's going to a call center. I very specifically asked if the pool was open. They said it was but bc of covid protocols, we would have to book a timeslot. totally fine with me. They also offered the information that there were shuttles running to all of the ski hills. Again, great, bc we were going skiing, so we planned around this. You can imagine my surprise when I walked into the lobby that overlooks the pool and the pool is drained. You could book a 20 minute slot at the outdoor hot tub, and could only book day of. We got a booking for Friday night, but by 3pm Saturday, they were booking for sunday (not sure how since it was supposed to be day of?). Also there were no shuttles running bc of COVID. Which is fine, but then dont tell patrons there are shuttles bc we had planned around taking the shuttle to the hill that day.
Would definitely book at this hotel again, but would call the hotel itself to get any info first.

Rustic is being kind
We booked a 3 bedroom Chalet meant for six. With Covid, it was just 2 of us. The pictures online were misleading, the chalet has probably not been updated in 30 years. Yes, it sleeps six. The sheets were clean. The bedspreads were dated and musty smelling. Thank goodness we brought our own pillows and comforter. The kitchen was dated, chipped drawers and cupboards, dirty oven, elements that did not work. Minimal supplies. The kitchen table would seat 3 max. It was not clean. We found an old bandage on the bedroom floor, a used Q-tip in the bathroom. Dirty floors and floorboards. Lights throughout the chalet were burnt out and one lamp was broken. The patio door could not close all the way so there was quite a gap letting cold air in. The furnishings showed their age. Chipped, dated and questionably clean. This will be our last time staying there.
