This year for my annual ski trip to Banff I stayed at the Ptarmigan Inn. Over the years I've stayed at many of the hotels on Banff Ave and the Ptarmigan is pretty much average. Nothing really stands out as great or better than the rest but also nothing to complain about. It's adequate. Though being close to the grocery store (the IGA) is convenient and the shuttle buses to Sunshine Village and Lake Louise stop out front, are pluses. If the price was right, I'd stay there again.

Great place to stay

Excellent place- stayed 2 weeks- great location close to shops, bars, restaurants & supermarkets. Plus the ski bus picks up at the front door. Value for money, friendly helpful staff. Room was large & in good condition & quiet. Bed was comfortable & room cleaned each day. Only downside was the hot tub didn’t work well. 😊

Comfortable accommodations in downtown Banff.

The hotel is basically a 3 star hotel with a 4 star comfort level. It is fairly straightforward with no frills. The hotel restaurant in the bar area was marginal. While service was good the food left much to be desired. I would suggest dining elsewhere. The hotel does have a breakfast buffet which is enough to get you going for the day. Nothing remarkable, but nice. The hotel also has ski lockers in the lower lever near the parking garage. The hotel provided combination locks for the lockers. The hotel also has a pickup for the Big 3 ski areas.

This was nice friendly hotel mid range price. Breakfast was very good and service excellent. Centrally located and close to town and all shops. Clean with a good shower and nicely set out room. Got onto our room a little early which was a bonus

A tired run down hotel in need of a refurb.

The best thing about this hotel is its location- very easy walk into Banff with lots of good restaurants and shops a stroll away and shuttle buses to all major attractions from the door. We stayed for 5 nights and were disappointed with the hotel itself. Its decor was dreary, we had an internal room with no view and very little light. The spa area was very scruffy and the breakfast food was atrocious. We ate elsewhere.
