Comfortable stay

It's a good spot from which enter Joshua Tree National Park but everything else is a 20 minute drive away. The hotel is clean and has most of the amenities one would wish: big bathroom with plenty of counter space, a fridge and coffee maker to name a few. The wall unit with a lower shelf to place suitcases on is a great idea! The breakfast buffet is underwhelming but will work if you're in a hurry. We had maid service each day; I left a note for extra coffee which we got but they didn't do much cleaning wise or make the beds. Plenty of parking. Overall a good stay.

Nice Staff, Clean Room, Good Value

They initially checked me into a room they thought was ready but was actually being used for their annual inspection. The manager profusely apologized and gave me 500 bonus points in the IHG rewards program...a simple but nice gesture. The room was clean, bed comfortable, and internet reliable. The complimentary breakfast is on par with what I typically encounter at Hampton Inns...nothing extravagant, but got the job done to start the day. Coffee was surprisingly good (Hampton's is just so-so). If I ever return to 29 Palms, I'd certainly stay here again...thanks for the hospitality!

Twenty nine palms

It would have been nice to have more than just two towels provided in the bathroom and plastic cups. Okay value for the money Great breakfast though and close to the entrance of the Joshua national Park

The breakfast buffet was very good with eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, etc. It was a pretty good location from which to visit Joshua Tree.

Cricket noise, unrestful sleep

Published Date: Jan, 2, 2025 Travel Date: Jan, 1, 2025 Rating: 1 I stayed at this hotel for two nights, choosing it over nearby Hilton and Marriott options due to its relatively good reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing and far from restful.
On the first night, I discovered a cricket in the closet that chirped throughout the night. It would stop only when I opened the closet door, forcing me to interrupt my sleep repeatedly. Despite searching, I couldn’t locate the cricket. The next morning, I reported the issue to the desk clerk and requested it be resolved. Since the hotel was fully booked, they couldn’t move us to another room. I asked them to have someone check the closet and address the issue.
The second night was just as frustrating. The cricket continued chirping, and I once again had to open the closet door every hour to temporarily quiet it. It became clear that this issue had likely been a problem for the previous guest and would disturb future guests as well.
At check-out, I mentioned the ongoing issue to the same desk clerk. He informed me that two maintenance staff members had inspected the closet but couldn’t find anything. The hotel manager was unavailable, so I requested her contact information. Later that day, I called her to explain the situation and requested a refund for one night’s stay. Her response was dismissive—she refused a refund, stating that since we had "used the provided service," she would not give me a one night refund and would only offer Holiday Inn reward points. When I argued that the room failed to meet basic expectations, such as being quiet enough for sleep, she admitted the crickets might be in the walls, which she said would require demolishing to remove the insects.
What frustrated me most was her implication that a cricket chirping all night long was acceptable and still justified a full room charge. This attitude, combined with the lack of a meaningful resolution, left me deeply dissatisfied. I declined the reward points as I have no intention of staying at a Holiday Inn in the future.
While the staff was polite, this experience highlighted a significant maintenance issue that disrupted our stay and will likely continue to affect others. Given the dismissive response from management and the unresolved problem, I cannot recommend this hotel and strongly suggest exploring alternative accommodations.
