Cricket noise, unrestful sleep

I stayed at this hotel for two nights, choosing it over nearby Hilton and Marriott options due to its relatively good reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing and far from restful. On the first night, I discovered a cricket in the closet that chirped throughout the night. It would stop only when I opened the closet door, forcing me to interrupt my sleep repeatedly. Despite searching, I couldn’t locate the cricket. The next morning, I reported the issue to the desk clerk and requested it be resolved. Since the hotel was fully booked, they couldn’t move us to another room. I asked them to have someone check the closet and address the issue. The second night was just as frustrating. The cricket continued chirping, and I once again had to open the closet door every hour to temporarily quiet it. It became clear that this issue had likely been a problem for the previous guest and would disturb future guests as well. At check-out, I mentioned the ongoing issue to the same desk clerk. He informed me that two maintenance staff members had inspected the closet but couldn’t find anything. The hotel manager was unavailable, so I requested her contact information. Later that day, I called her to explain the situation and requested a refund for one night’s stay. Her response was dismissive—she refused a refund, stating that since we had "used the provided service," she would not give me a one night refund and would only offer Holiday Inn reward points. When I argued that the room failed to meet basic expectations, such as being quiet enough for sleep, she admitted the crickets might be in the walls, which she said would require demolishing to remove the insects. What frustrated me most was her implication that a cricket chirping all night long was acceptable and still justified a full room charge. This attitude, combined with the lack of a meaningful resolution, left me deeply dissatisfied. I declined the reward points as I have no intention of staying at a Holiday Inn in the future. While the staff was polite, this experience highlighted a significant maintenance issue that disrupted our stay and will likely continue to affect others. Given the dismissive response from management and the unresolved problem, I cannot recommend this hotel and strongly suggest exploring alternative accommodations.

Very nice clean motel. Very good HOT breakfast with a nice variety. The rooms were very spacious and clean. This motel is in a great location to do hiking in Joshua Tree NP. We will pick this motel on our next time visiting Joshua Tree NP. Our #1 pick in Twentynine Palms, CA.

Clean room with king size bed. Large bathroom with roomy shower. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast had extensive choices and food was hot and plentiful. A great option for our overnight during our visit to nearby Joshua Tree National Park. Highly recommend!

No one was at the Front Desk when we got there after 3pm. Employee quickly came out from the back to check us in. Our room for 3 people was missing some towels, easy to get from the front desk. 2nd floor room was comfortable. AC was a little loud, but it made the room cool, which is most important in July. Breakfast was good, especially the automated pancake machine in one minute. Didn’t see any decaf coffee which I would have liked. Convenient location off the highway to get into Joshua Tree National Park. Overall a good experience.

This is our second stay at this hotel. Very clean room, clean bathroom and clean and comfortable bed, nice linen. Hot breakfast was not to my liking, the very crispy fried eggs looked awful, but I am sure most guests enjoyed them. The usual chain hotel fare - cereals, yoghurts, cream cheese etc was all very nice. We would stay here again
