We stayed in this hotel for a week. The location was perfect for our needs. It was close to several of the activities we had planned. Easy check in and check out. Room was cleaned every other day. Pool and exercise room available and free coffee in the lobby.

Your typical Hampton Inn. It is clean with their famous breakfast waffles. Customer service though was top notch. You can really tell how a hotel is when things aren’t perfect and they made everything right. BTW….if you arrive on one of the late flights from the lower 48, you do need to have a reservation from the night before. I was confused on some of the reviews as check in to most hotels aren’t until 4pm. We stayed here for 2 nights before heading to Coldfoot. They did shuttle us back to the airport for us to meet up with our tour.

Here to see the northern lights, dog sledding and a visit to North Pole, AK

Had traveled 24 hours from Tulsa, Oklahoma by plane. Arrived at 12:30 am. Previous to arriving here we had contacted Hampton Inn multiple times confirming we wouldn’t be arriving until 1:00 : am. and was told there would be no problem checking in. When we checked in, Tristan said we didn’t have a reservation at all. We had one for the 15th but they wanted to charge us for the 14th. It was technically the 15th when we were checking in. We were told we’d need to wait two more hours to check in and not be charged for the 14th and at this point it was 2:00am. At that time we told them we wouldn’t pay for the 14th, the extra night. He ran our card and charged us anyway for the total stay including the 14th. He said the manager would refund it in the morning. Marlon, the manager, refused to do so. The quote from my Hampton confirmation was 750.00 for a three night stay. We were charge 1147.00. To top all of that off, Tristan told us breakfast was from 6:00-11:00. After being up 24 hours straight, we set our alarm for 10:00 am and went down to breakfast which was already over. Have recently negotiated access to a cabin in Delta Junction. Will be traveling with friends and family in the summertime. There will be many opportunities for hotel stays for friends and family when they visit. Unfortunately, the short-sidedness of Marlon, will eliminate Hampton and Hilton properties from our choices.

Our experience was mixed. On positive side... The hotel is in a great location, just outside of the main downtown area. Easy access to the highway and some fast food restaurants. The room was comfortable and clean. Nothing fancy, but functional and warm. The beds were very comfortable. Felt safe the entire stay and had plenty of parking (with plugs) On the challenging side... Called in 2 days prior to our stay to request information about plugging in my rental and local driving conditions. The front desk person told me my reservation was not complete and my stay not confirmed. Said he could not do anything and I needed to call Hilton reservations. After 30 minutes, and Hilton contacting the hotel, found out my prepaid reservation was just fine and the guy was looking at the wrong screen. The breakfast was a bust. Each morning we went down for food we found most everything was gone. First morning we went down at 8:30a, second at 9am. We talked to the staff and asked if more food would be coming out, but after waiting a period of time gave up and found a couple of local places to eat. (Highly recommend The Cookie Jar in Fairbanks and Little Richards in the North Pole!).

Overnight in Fairbanks before flying out the next day. We arrived several hours before checkin time, expecting to drop off bags and wander around Fairbanks, but they allowed us to check in early. We were very happy about that. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Only drawback: the pillows were not to my taste, although I admit to being finicky about pillows.
