Skip the four-plex "Hiker's" rooms
The staff was super nice and the setting pleasant (forest and meadows) but if you want a good night's sleep, give the "Hiker's" rooms a miss ($100/night + tax). The walls are paper thin and our privacy, relaxation and sleep were disturbed by hearing our neighbors' every word. One morning we were awoken at 4:30am by our neighbors! Everyone should be entitled to speak and sing and fart to their heart's content in their lodging, but in this case, because of shoddy construction, we could follow every word of our neighbor's conversation (and vice versa). Needless to say, we spent our visit sleep-deprived.

My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the duplex cabins For 2 nights while on a trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The accommodations are pretty spartan and I would rate them a 2 star. Would be better if they had a microwave In the rooms. What makes it nice is it’s close proximity to the Canyon and you won’t be spending very much time in your cabin anyway. They did serve dinner in the lodge the first night and it was good. I had read bad things about the staff but they were all very nice. I did however encounter the rude older lady that is mentioned in some reviews here but it was only at checkout.

Basic, next closest to the rim, kind of dirty
Spartan cabins with thin walls, minimalist shower with low-end body wash dispenser, no TV or wifi. Gift shop seems to have useful items for hikers in case they forgot something (e.g. hats, wool socks). On-site dining is fine. Bed wasn't comfortable. Location was good, a 30-minute drive from North Rim, considering that we planned our rim-to-rim last minute and obviously couldn't get into the lodge on the rim. I think this is the next-closest lodging to North Rim.
All in all, it's an average property. Gets the job done. The reason I downgraded this to 2/5 from 3/5 was, despite how friendly the staff were, the property was kind of dirty, and they didn't wear masks in the middle of a pandemic and didn't practice social distancing. As a doctor who has seen the horrors of this virus up close and personal, their behavior made me worry about the safety of their patrons.
Also, it wasn't the cleanest. There was a huge dusty chunk of hair on the floor in the bathroom and little things like that that made me not feel completely at ease.

Didn't have to camp in the rain
My North Rim campground reservations got cancelled last minute. I scrambled around and just happened to get a cabin here. So happy I did. It was cold and rainy and this desert rat slept warm and cozy inside. Parked right at the door and didn't have to carry supplies very far. My heater didn't work when I first got there but the maintenance guy was prompt and had the pilot lit in no time. This was a happy find for sure

Because of Covid, Kaibab Lodge was less than we expected. The positives: We stayed in the "condo style" building on the first floor. The room was semi-renovated but it was clean and adequate. It was also quiet and most of the time we were the only ones in residence. The staff was friendly but there the positives stop. The negatives: their website said they had a restaurant but with Covid had cut back on in-house dining and the type of food served but would be serving "clean and healthy food to meet all diets". Should have ca.lled for further info. they were serving "bowls" which consisted of different types of ingrediens of your choice piled in a bowl and served. It was not very appetizing to look at. We made other arrangements which was not easy as there aren't many options available at this time in that area. Regarding our room -- we were supposed to have a view of the meadow but unfortunately there were very large trees in front of the deck so our view was greatly blocked. Disappointing. The cost was overpriced for what we got but we were there for the canyon so the trip was worthwhile. We could not have asked for better country to be in and the weather was absolutely perfect!
