First time glamping and was thrilled to find an Under Canvas site near Mount Rushmore, where I was planning to vacation. Online reservations were seamless. Subsequent emails from Under Canvas explained check-in process along with information regarding additional services and amenities. Arrived mid-afternoon and was greeted in reception by Chase who walked me through all the particulars including tent accommodations and associated tutorials. Golf cart trip to pick-up luggage and a quick (albeit, bumpy) ride to my tent - I was presented with a lovely tent which included my vacay splurge of the stargazer feature. Dinner first evening was a pleasant surprise, tasty arugula salad with flank steak and a cold cider. Delish. Sightseeing while eating dinner was also a special treat as I had a slight line to Mount Rushmore, which at a little after 8:30 PM was glowing from the lighting ceremony. Accommodations within tent were comfortable with a comfy bed fitted with dual duvets, porch seating which was perfect for watching the stunning sunrises and bathroom was pleasantly well-appointed. Didn't miss the electronics and gave me the chance to escape technology for two nights and just be. Second night was a real treat as the skies were spectacularly clear and I fell asleep gazing at the stars. Magical. I checked out early after my second night to get a jump start on my drive to The Badlands. Overnight staff were very accommodating and again carted me to my car. First-time customer and was very impressed with the customer service extended to me, attentive, but not aggressive. Would recommend to anyone considering a glamping experience.

We stayed at Under Canvas Mount Rushmore as part of a road trip across the country with our toddler and dog. This was also the 4th Under Canvas we have visited and we continue to be huge fans of the brand. During our five weeks on the road we noticed that hiring staff has been a difficulty for the service industry every where we visited. This was evident at Under Canvas but I do not perceive this as a negative as the staff they did have was extraordinary. From the moment we checked in, the staff was helpful and accommodating. When they showed us the view of Mount Rushmore from a deck, we knew this was going to be a memorable visit for our family. Our son and dog loved the facilities - especially the S'mores, kid friendly food, rocks to collect and leaves to pick. My husband and I enjoyed the variety of food options, local beer offerings and the quiet places to sit and read. We spoke to a staff member about what we should prioritize for our visit and he strongly encouraged us to spend time in Custer State Park. He even drew a route on a map for us to follow which was super helpful. Badlands National Park is a bit of a drive, but we invested a day of our stay to visit and are glad we did. Mount Rushmore is in the title, but that was the place we spent the least amount of time. Unfortunately, the elevator was down at Wind Cave National Park so we are using that as a reason to return - and not going there allowed us to spend more time at Under Canvas relaxing! The Keystone area can be a bit chaotic - the stores and food it provides are not what we typically prefer. Fortunately, Under Canvas with their fantastic beds, warm showers, beautiful tents and wonderful staff was a perfectly relaxing place to return to after a long day. We look forward to visiting again!

I was on a bicycle trip here. It is very cool. You are in a tent, but it has a real bathroom. The people very much go out of their way to help. Great little restaurant with real choices. Not just burgers. Not far from keystone, although on a bumpy dirt road. All good.

Unique Experience to do at least once

My husband and I decided to try this. He has been camping before and I had not so this seemed a gentle way of seeing if camping would be something I would enjoy. We got the stargazer tent with a private bath. The tent itself was really neat. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The shower was a little awkward to use as you have to pull down on the chain for water and try to wash at the same time...definitely good to shower with your mate. The food at the restaurant at the main tent was mediocre. We preferred going to the Powder House Restaurant a few miles away. There was a freak cold snap in late May when we visited and wound up having low's in the 20's at night and some sleet. That was not really fun and we went through A LOT of wood in our tent to keep it bearable. The only complaint I had is that after a couple of days we asked multiple times to have our tent refreshed since we would be out all day. They never actually came to do it. Natasha was great though and went above and beyond to get us towels, more wood and drive us to our tent. All of the staff was extremely sweet. It was overall a fun experience, but considering it costs more than a hotel, we probably won't do it again.

Great Staff

I arrived at Under Canvas for a one-night stay on July 14th - only to figure out that I had made a mistake in booking my reservation. The Under Canvas staff went out of their way to fix my mistake. A big THANK YOU to - Hannah, Laurel, and Garret -  for getting me out of hot water with my family. In addition to the excellent staff, the Under Canvas location at Mount Rushmore is very nice. The layout of the tents make great use of the space, and the deck at the main tent (where you have check-in & meals) has a nice view of Mount Rushmore itself. This is my second visit to an Under Canvas property - and I've been impressed both times. We'll be back.
