Loved watching Mt. Rushmore light up in the distance (quite a distance, but still nice!) Bedding was very comfortable! We enjoyed dinner on the patio at the small restaurant there - delicious. We had a tent w a full bath - great hot water and water pressure. Loved it! Lots of games to borrow from the lobby - we sat on the deck of our tent and played scrabble in the evening. Staff was amazing and very accommodating. Highly recommend. Pricey, but unique experience, even for just one night. A few items to note: Quite a few kids running around in the common areas, but to be expected. You cannot drive to your tent. The staff will drive you in a golf cart. We had a small, uphill hike to get to the common area. You cannot bring any food to your tent. It makes sense, but we didn't realize this. Because this is in a national forest, no campfires at your tent. Disappointed as campfires are a key part of camping. The wood burning stove almost made up for it. We sat on the deck, looking at the stars, and could still feel the heat from the stove. Bring your own bottle of wine and enjoy! Small town nearby for supplies.

Under Canvas Mount Rushmore was an absolutely marvellous experience. Clamping is a luxurious renting experience and one that we loved. Despite the cold and 6 inches of snow, we were cozy in our tent. A wood fire helped to keep us warm and our bed was to snuggle into. The staff were all friendly and meals were reasonably priced. We would highly recommend this experience, as the tents looked directly at the presidents heads at Mount Rushmore.

I’d give UCMR 4 stars: Pros: *A really unique way to spend the night. *Delicious food in the dining tent. *Friendly, helpful staff. *Great location near Mt. Rushmore. *The S’mores were a nice treat. Cons: *If you want to stay warm in the tent, you have to load the stove with wood every 90 minutes or so. (Wouldn’t be an issue during warmer weather. We realize that we stayed here the last week of the season). *The tent that we stayed in had a lot of flies (not 2 or 3, but tens of them).

Under Canvas really nailed it!

We spent two nights in a Stargazer Tent. The bed was THE MOST comfortable bed I've slept in EVER, and I've stayed in a few 5-star hotels. The tent was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It was surprisingly quiet at night, given how sound travels outside. The property is just gorgeous and there is a view of Mt. Rushmore from the deck of the common area. It's just a short drive from Keystone, Mt. Rushmore, hiking trails, and rock climbing. The staff was super friendly and very helpful (Daniel rocks!) - management can be very proud of them. We plan on visiting all the national parks and will definitely seek out all the Under Canvas locations near them.

This was a new experience for me. We were treated with kindness by all staff we encountered. Under Canvas is very well taken care of with pride and it shows. We had a king size bed, couch, some chairs and private bathroom with shower. It was so relaxing after a long day of travel. It just so happened to be cold and rainy on check in. We had a wood burning stove (very well stocked) and so many comfy covers it was great camping weather. Camp was pretty quiet due to time of year. I’m not much for hot weather so this was perfect. The coolest memory I will always hold dear was waking up and having the perfect view of Mt Rushmore. For those concerned with noise, it’s quiet hours after 10 pm. For the time being, please use directions they provide as gps isn’t finding the location just yet. I would go back in a heartbeat. There are many tent options to choose from. It’s truly beautiful there. They will close in a few days for the season but reopen in May. If you’re not sure about going I hope you give it a try. You will be so glad you did. Oh one more thing. The idea is to unplug. What a concept!!
