I went long ago in the nineties three or four times camped out in the campgrounds for nothing, ate in the Goulding's restaurant.
Took lots of pictures hiked a few places
That was a time to be alive
No big ugly hotels
No $450 per night rates
Friendly people
I don't think I would go today

Captive to only game in town

The toilet was running when we checked in. Call the desk phone network was down. I had to go to the office three times before a maintenance guy finally looked at and said he would write it down for replacement tomorrow I shut the water off so we could sleep. As fir the phone we will look at “tomorrow “.
The water running in the next room made noise and we could hear them opening and closing doors.
Curtains were hanging off their rods usb ports were inop and the place needs cleaning. The car wash next door just added to the experience of the truck engines as they fueled up at the station in front.
I had a steak it good
FYI I am in the room as I write this

Filthy floors, broken coffee maker, NO TV!!!

Upon checking into our cabin, we accidentally got some water on the floor when transferring food from our cooler to the refrigerator and when we wiped up the floor, we noticed it was FILTHY with dirt and hair from previous guests. It was obvious the floors had not been cleaned. That evening, when we attempted to turn on the TV, there was an error message stating the TV could not find the satellite. We promptly called the front desk who said a member of maintenance would come out the next day. The next morning, we went to make coffee and the coffee maker did not work either. We called the front desk a 2nd time to complain, and they sent maintenance out while we were sightseeing who did nothing because upon our return, the coffee maker was still not working and nor was the TV. We called the front desk a 3rd time and maintenance was sent again while we were there. We showed him how the coffee maker was still not working and he finally replaced it. Then, a 2nd maintenance worker arrived to look at the TV. He could not get it working so he called a 3rd worker who also could not get it working. They apologized and I called the front desk again and asked for a manager and spoke with Kirstie. I explained about the floors being dirty, the TV not working and the coffee pot not working and she told me to contact Expedia who would contact them and they’d give us a discount. When I returned home, I did as instructed but Goulding’s Lodge told Expedia they would NOT be giving us a refund. We paid $700 for 2 nights in this cabin with no working coffee maker on the first morning and no TV for the duration of our stay (not to mention filthy floors!). This is unacceptable and I will be disputing this with my credit card company. I do NOT recommend staying at Goulding’s Lodge for these reasons. They did NOT keep their word and obviously do not care about the experience their guests have at their lodge. Next time I will stay at The View Hotel which, as the name implies, has a better view and better customer service from what I have heard.

This was our 2nd time staying here. The first time was during the pandemic so there wasn't much available. This time, though. The tribal park is open, tours are going on, the restaurant is serving at capacity.
We had a king room (2nd level, lower lodge and the view is amazing. The bed is comfortable. The room was clean. Really couldn't ask for more. Our coffee maker was broken but housekeeping got that fixed in just a few minutes. I definitely recommend Goulding's Lodge to anyone looking for accommodations in Monument Valley.

They have a monopoly so they don't rally care. You will not get housekeeping unless you ask.Of course, all rooms have a spectacular view of the monuments. Restaurant is ok,food is We went on a tour and it was awful. Do not go with Marvin. He gave virtually no information and then got us stuck in a ditch. We sat ther with no information. He had no equipment, not even a shovel to try to dig us out. There are 30 other tour companies, don't bother with Gouldings.
