Best place to stay to visit Capitol Reef National Park

We had a 2-bedroom cabin which came with a pull out sofa in the living area, kitchenette, 1.5 bathrooms, and deck with grill. Overall we were happy with our stay here. The space was nice and the location was great to visit Capitol Reef NP. We did not have as luxurious of a room as pictured on the website, and I suppose with the largest cabin on property (the 2-bedrooms), it was expected. It was, however, still nice. Our cabin was very clean when we entered, and we are very particular so this is a good thing to note. We did have to wait until almost 5 pm to check in which is a terribly late check in. Apparently they were short-staffed in housekeeping. We were patient and were understanding, however, check in should be at 2 or 3 in the afternoon. A 4 pm check in that gets delayed should be given at a reduced rate. The other issue we had is laundry. The website notes that laundry facilities are available for guests. The laundry room had 1 washer and 2 dryers. Every wash cycle is $3 and every dry cycle is $3. That is a crazy amount of $ to charge guests. Not only that, there is a sign in the laundry room that reads if you need detergent or quarters to operate to see the front desk. My husband went to the front desk and was told to drive to the Chuckwagon general store, about 10 min away. He had to do this twice to get all the quarters we needed for our laundry. VERY inconvenient, esp when a sign states to simply get quarters from the desk. A coin dispenser or credit card swipe machine or free machine would be a lot better. Also our Keurig machine stopped working on our last morning. Again, minor inconvenience, however we need coffee to get moving in the morning... Ok, now for the good. The space of the cabin was good, location good, view was beautiful, beds comfy. The deck was nicely sized and the grills have gas piped in, which is convenient. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but opted to cut it short due to the few inconveniences. It was still a nice stay during our time visiting Capitol Reef.

We stayed at Capitol Reef resort for a family vacation to see the park. It is very close to Capitol Reef and has beautiful views of the mountains and famous “Waterpocket Fold” similar to what you see in the park except you don’t have to leave your porch! Our cabin was cozy for a family with 3 kids-the kids loved the loft space upstairs and the kitchenette was helpful to have. The covered porch had a large table to eat outside. The cabins looked very new and were clean, good Wifi too. There is a restaurant on site and another across the street. Capitol Reef is one of the most remote parks and I think this is the best place around to stay at. Almost like a National Park lodge....

Beautiful view from the balcony!! Was great to sit outside after a long day of hiking and relax. The beds were comfortable. Direct TV. Free WIFI. You could hear the people in the room next door but luckily they didn't stay late. I would totally stay there again if I go back

Stay for the sky views!

We absolutely loved the sky views, the hotel itself was nice. There wasn’t anything particularly special about the place, except for the breathtaking scenery that surrounds the area. Our room came with a spectacular view!

Balcony view is worth it!

For a little more do get the room with balcony and views of the red rocks. This hotel at first blush you think - oh exterior doors... but the amenities in the room really exceed expectations. Keurig coffee maker, tissue paper that felt like Kleenex brand, soft towels, comfortable beds - really enjoyed my stay. Wished I had stayed longer. It was quite cold so didn't avail myself of the fire and smores but would love to do that again. The breakfast and dinner in restaurant was quite good too. Being just about 5 minutes from Capitol Reef was also a huge plus!
