Would Book This B&B Again in a Heartbeat
Moss Mountain Inn was the perfect base for our Glacier National Park adventures. The Grinnell Room was spacious with plenty of amenities. The bed was comfortable, and the view from our balcony was incredible--the perfect place to start the day with coffee and a journal. The entire home was very clean, and I appreciate that they ask guests to remove shoes upon entry.
The breakfast each morning was fresh with a lot of options. Sandy's scones were INCREDIBLE, and we had plenty of carbs and protein for a day of hiking. They even have some grab-and-go snacks for your hikes.
The location is perfect, only about 10 minutes from the West Glacier entrance, 10 minutes from Columbia Falls, and 20 minutes from Whitefish. The B&B is situated in a quiet spot where you're surrounded by nature. We enjoyed stargazing at night on the grounds.
Finally, the hosts were very warm and welcoming. Marguerite shared recommendations and was friendly to talk to. This felt more like staying at a relative's home than a Bed and Breakfast. I would have no reservations about staying here again, and if we are ever back in the area, we would definitely return to Moss Mountain Inn!

Don't understand all the 5 star reviews for this place
A bed and breakfast conjures up certain images. A friendly host who warmly greets you when you arrive. A warm and inviting common area with late afternoon wine and appetizers laid out where you can chat with your host and the other guests. A delicious home-made breakfast. Moss Mountain Inn did not deliver on any of these characteristics.
No one greeted us after our 8 hour drive to Columbia Falls. Marguerite, the owner, did send us a text saying that she might not be there to greet us but would leave the key out. That she did. We walked into a cold and dark house, found our key, removed our shoes (as requested) and schlepped our bags up two flights of stairs to our room. Despite some protection on the stairs, they are a little slippery especially with two heavy bags.
After putting our bags in our rooms, we proceeded to explore the house but ultimately decided to stay in our room because we could warm it up and couldn't figure out how to warm the rest of the house up even though it was only about 5:00 or so.
The smell of bacon cooking greeted us the following morning. An encouraging sign that the coming breakfast did not fulfill. Breakfast on the first day consisted of lukewarm french toast made out of what we think was some kind of very sweet bread from Costco, bacon (that I really liked, but my wife did not) and grapes. There were only four of us at breakfast that morning and it was almost like they cut back the breakfast because of that.
The next (our last day), they served scrambled eggs with either spinach or asparagus (not sure which), bacon, fruit, and scones that my wife and I cannot agree were homemade or not. Decent but once again not a five star breakfast as noted in all the other reviews.
The two things the place did have were the location (only a 15 minute drive into Glacier) and some pretty extensive wooded land around the inn that would have been fun to explore if it hadn't been rainy and cold.
The inn appears to have changed hands in 2021 yet the five star reviews have undeservedly continued for Moss Mountain Inn. To check out a review of a real 5 star bed and breakfast, please read some of the reviews for the Abingdon Green in Asheville, NC, a real 5 star bed and breakfast. Moss Mountain isn't in the same league and is a reason why we are going to discontinue staying at B&Bs.

Close to the park, amazing place, so many amenities. Must stay here!
Delicious breakfast and snacks. Able to borrow bear spray, jackets, sunscreen and so much more. The grounds were beautiful with a pond with fish and 6 acres.

Cute little spot!
Loved our stay at Moss mountain inn. Cute little
Spot, clean and the host, Marguerite was warm and very friendly. We stayed at Apgar room and it was clean with good quality toiletries. They had a sun room, living room and a hot hub (we didn’t have time to get in) part of the inn. Loved the breakfast. They have healthy breakfast options and a nice selection of hot teas and breakfast bars. It’s quite close to the west glacier entrance so access was pretty good. In about 10-15 min drive you will find lot of dining options.. We loved our stay here and definitely coming back.. oh and and don’t forget to check out her fresh raspberry plants. So good..

Base of Operations Near Glacier National Park
Moss Mountain is a real gem. My wife and I stayed there two nights and then another two nights later on. It is a beautiful building with lots of light wood trim set in the forest. There are four bedrooms with one on the first floor, one on the second floor, and two on the third floor. The rooms do not have their own TV but there is a very nice common TV room with a large wood stove that should come in handy in the winter. The bedroom on the first floor is small and the queen bed fills most of the sleeping area. It also has a shower and sink area and a small “closet” for the toilet. It is connected to the atrium which might be the best feature of the facility. The atrium is large (17 by 33 feet) and complete with tables and chairs, soft chairs, and a couch. Just sitting in the atrium and watching the surrounding nature makes for a great stay. The second floor has a bedroom and the kitchen area which has two dining tables that house 6 and 4 people. The breakfasts that we had were first-rate. Pancakes, bacon, German pancakes (like crepes), fruit, scones, egg dishes, etc. The new owner and cook are very engaging and we spent at least an hour at breakfast talking with them and the other guests. The owner also was a wealth of information about Glacier National Park, places to hike outside the Park, and things to do in the surrounding cities. Other specific attributes of Moss Mountain are that the beds were very comfortable (among the best we have ever had) and the B&B provided many essential items such as bear spray, sun screen, insect repellent, 4-way cell phone charger in each room, hot tub, kitchen area with microwave and fruit, nuts, and energy bars, a common area with Keurig coffee maker, tea, and refrigerator. We highly recommend this peaceful Bed and Breakfast.
