So-So for the San Juan
A 2 night stay in Mexican Hat, Utah. One of only 3 places to stay. Second floor overlooking the San Juan River. Peaceful and quiet setting. “Wild” horses along the riverbank. Good location for exploring the area i.e. Valley of the Gods, Gooseneck state park, Bluff Fort. Felt Covid-Safe...all staff members wore masks.
No fridge or microwave (sad to say) however complimentary coffee was offered at the cafe. Motel is rustic and rooms are basic. Don’t expect to have your bed made up if staying for multiple days (guess I “forgot” to put out the “please clean this room” sign on the door when we went out for the day!)
Things haven’t been updated at this motel in quite a while (holes in window screens, etc.) Could use a little sprucing up (considering what we paid for a 2 night stay)!

Great Place to Stay & Best Burger For Miles Around
Motel was clean, all facilities were well maintained. Cafe had a menu with plenty of fresh options and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable about the area and eager to provide excellent service. Seriously they have the best burgers, Panini and fresh cut French fries we had in all of our southern Utah trip. Would definitely go back again!

End of season stay
Nice people. Newly Rennovated rooms were well done. Right on the river, and close access to. VAlley of the gods and monument valley. Had fun walk to the river and petting the donkeys. Kayakers use this place as a stopping point for food. I

Drive on by
I've driven by this motel several times and thought how fun it would be to stay there, with the red rock walls and river views. Well, we finally stayed and wished we hadn't. The appeal of sitting outside and overlooking the river was quickly made negative by the state of the pillows on the chairs, and looking out through distracting rails. The trail to the river was closed. The sink in the bathroom didn't drain and the room was pretty ragged, at best. The good news is they took pets! Never again. Drive on by.

Super people, meh lodging.
Get ready for some motorcycles! If you like oggling bikes, this is the place because tons of groups stay here and they all like talking about their rides.
The room itself (a second floor, no 41) was spacious but a bit dated with dingy towels. No wifi or cell service so be prepared for that. The restaurant seemed understaffed so be prepared to wait.
A special shout out to Brooke who worked the desk and the restaurant during the stay. She couldn't have been kinder or more helpful with recommendations.
