The kitchen staff Clarissa at Hampton Inn Anchorage was very warm and welcoming. Checked on our stay and gave us helpful tips on nearby shopping outlets and eateries. The breakfast was good, fresh and enjoyable ambience. Well deserved for a good commendation.

Denied appropriate accommodations with my service animal

My company booked me a room at Hampton Inn in Anchorage, AK. I checked in with my service dog. My second day at the hotel, I went down to the lobby for breakfast. As I was looking at the breakfast options, the staff came to me and told me I had to leave the area because of my service dog. I explained she is a service dog. The staff asked the two appropriate questions regarding my service animal. They again told me I could not go through the self serve line for breakfast. I was sent to the front desk. I explained the situation. Again denied access. I called corporate and even though the individual was very understanding, the issue was not resolved. After dealing with the situation for nearly an hour, I packed and left. The ADA specifically states that an establishment with a self serve line cannot deny access to an individual with their service animal. I have escalated the issue with the company I work for. As a note for individuals with disabilities that require a service dog, this hotel is does not follow ADA guidelines and I do not recommend staying there.

I would have given a 5 Star review but the pool was inoperable and wasn't going to be repaired anytime soon. They did offer us to use the pool at their sister property but that wasn't going to work for our situation and is highly inconvenient in the winter. ToFi the front desk staff was amazing and made me feel like family and ensured we had everything we needed during our two week stay. She even assisted with a wheelchair after surgery. She continually checked on us. Mina and Rene did a fantastic job with breakfast, keeping the food fresh, stocked and the area clean.

On July 15 2024 my vehicle was broken into and my wallet and other personal items were stolen. The vehicle was parked right in front of the hotel. Also another guest had a firearm stolen from his vehicle. There are no security cameras outside this property. Staff members also confirmed that there are strangers coming through the property outside. I am a gold status Hilton honors member and they did nothing to resolve my problem. My wife and I felt very insecure at this property! Beware staying at this hotel!

Do not rely on the shuttle

We got in about 11 pm and were ready to leave at 6:30. We literally just slept and quick shower. We had breakfast because we waited so long on the shuttle. When we got off the train the night before we called and waited about 20 minutes after we called for the shuttle. All good there. The shuttle driver even stopped at a convenient store for a guy on the shuttle. I asked about the morning shuttle and he told me to allow 15 minutes in the morning, it would be no problem. So I asked at the front desk when we checked in, and she wanted to know what time my train was. I don’t allow others to determine my comfort level, time wise. I like to be early. She told me to ask at 6:30. So I asked promptly at 6:30 am. She said he had to take people to the airport and he’d be back for us. Once again she asked what time my train was. We waited so long, we grabbed a quick bite at the breakfast buffet. At 7:40 we were picked up. 70 minutes later. The train station was packed and the check in line long. I prefer not up have that stress. The drivers were all nice, but they service 3 hotels. They need another shuttle, but the driver told me the other driver “went back to jail again?!!!” Nuff said - UBER
