This is the second year in a row that we stayed here at this DoubleTree. I purposely went back because of the great experience that we had last year. Not as much this year unfortunately... Our room was not cleaned after the first night and the shower gel bottles (attached to the shower wall) were empty and you had to use the small bar of soap for both the sink and the shower. Also the coffee machine was missing the piece that holds the pods from the free packs of coffee/tea that are there. You can still make hot beverages by placing the pods directly in your cup and having the boiling drip into your cup, so it's not a total loss, but an inconvenience that needs to be resolved. I am not sure who serviced the room BEFORE we arrived, but these things should have been checked out by the staff and resolved before the next guest arrived and assigned to that particular room. I would have expected better from DoubleTree so I am bit disappointed with this recent stay.

The hotel its self is nice. The traffic noise is terrible and the feather pillows are bad. Couldn’t get comfortable due to pillows being very flat and traffic noise. Hotel is nice and clean. Also, we purposely chose a double tree for the nice breakfast they are known got. No breakfast here folks

The receptionist when we checked into this hotel was so welcoming and friendly. She made sure we knew all about the hotel and it’s facilities. The cookies she supplied us with were delicious. Our room was well designed with a very comfortable bed. We slept well.

Excellent property and the staff are amazing. Our room was clean, big, well stocked, and very comfortable. Our room had a beautiful view of the golf course. We used the pool and hot tub, both were great. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, food was very good, service excellent, and the prices were much lower than what we find at most hotel restaurants. The staff was truly amazing. We had a very challenging travel day, had some last minute changes and they were just so helpful and friendly.

Love this hotel that used to be a high end resort hotel - Blue Ridge Resort hotel. It has a gorgeous lobby. Friendly staff. Good gym and pool with an operating jacuzzi. Nice gorgeous view of the golf course next door. Ample parking. Nice size room with two Queen size beds and spacious walking area. Tasteful and gorgeous decor in room and hallways. Con - TV of exercise machines doesn’t work though has a remote. Breakfast not included but can dine at attached restaurant Houlihan (mediocre food and student staff although friendly but inexperienced). The vent in bathroom was loud and didn’t work properly so actually emitted strong musty smell that stunk up the room (we left it off and although no lights in toilet stall we preferred not to smell that foul musty vent fume). Very hard beds than typical hotels. Not practical chairs (odd to have a spare dining chair plus an outdated rolling desk chair instead of sofa lounge type chair and newer desk chair. The bathroom sink was contour shape to make clearance for the door, but the odd shape made brushing teeth and grooming awkward. Nonetheless, there was more plus to this place that would easily be a 5-stars. Will return when visiting the nearby gorgeous Shanondoa National Park or the multiple taverns.
