Good location, Musty smelling room
Convenient location, within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Michael at front desk was helpful and accommodating. Check-in was quick and easy.
Our experience was good until we opened the door to our room, which was filled with a musty cigarette smell. Front desk refused our request to move to another room, they only offered to send in housekeeping to spray the room, which would add even more chemicals there. We declined and had to sleep with our face masks on.
We paid extra for a premium room with a balcony and water views. Our room was on the first floor, ground level, with a balcony facing a walking/biking path 20 feet away. As we sat there, people had full view of us. It could get awkward at times. We ended up not using the balcony at all, so the extra we paid was a total waste.

Red Lion Port Angeles Put us in Unsafe Situation
My husband and I reserved two nights for Labor Day Weekend. We made the reservation approximately three weeks in advance. When we were on our way to check in we received a call saying their system had overbooked the hotel and they had no room for us. They were not able to honor our preexisting reservation. I frantically called around Port Angeles and all hotel were sold out. When I called the Red Lion back to ask for help finding another hotel I was told about locations were we could sleep n our car and not be disturbed. We ended up resting on the side of the road but then driving three hours back to our home in the middle of the night. I have left three messages asking for the manager to call me. No call yet. I don't think I have ever left a negative review but this situation was particularly bad. We were put in an unsafe situation and the Red Lion provided no help.

Comfortable, convenient, good service.
We stayed one night in a Premium (sea view) room with our 3-year-old daughter and small dog. The location could not be better -- on the water and in the center of downtown -- and the sea view with adjacent walking trail was great. One pays a small amount extra for the sea view but it's worth it.
The room was clean, well-appointed, and quiet. Front-desk service was excellent. We did not sample the restaurant, since there are so many others within walking distance nearby.
Overall a very nice place for a relaxing get-away. A good launching point to visit Hurricane Ridge or the rest of Olympic National Park. When Canada reopens fully, you're right next to the Victoria Ferry dock. We would return and probably will.

Not what I expected
I booked two rooms in March for a trip in August. Asked for ocean view. Rooms have no view! Room had no chair except desk chair no hair dryer, no plug in forphone, other room no AC. Disappointing to me

Was taken! We paid $400/night for a horrible stay. They will get you in the summer months. This room is worth $50 maybe. Staff was unaccommodating, and drain was totally broken and nasty!! They have a few rooms without balconies, and we were one of them. When I asked to change rooms, I was denied multiple times, even with a broken drain. It is on the waterfront, and really busy, so they know they can get you. Do not receive at all! If you get it for $50, maybe.
