Mattress almost ruined our trip

The resort itself has many amenities and the grounds are quite nice. That said, we booked three rooms for our family and the mattress in one of the rooms was like sleeping in a hammock. The entire center was caved in and it was obvious this mattress had not been replaced in some time. As a consequence it threw out my wife’s back and it was touch and go for awhile as we were on the verge of having to cancel our sightseeing plans. How a resort such as this cannot pay attention to a core detail such as mattresses so people can actually get a good nights rest is head scratching. We will not be returning.

Beautiful and clean facility. Friendly and helpful staff. We had a second floor room with gorgeous view of the lake and grounds. Front desk and room service staff were courteous and prompt. Mill room restaurant food was top notch.

We were traveling home from a vacation in Nashville and stopped to visit friends. Boars Head was recommended to us and we now understand why. The grounds are beautiful, rooms clean, staff friendly, beds comfortable, food delicious and we could bring our two dogs! We asked for a late check out so we could hike with our friends in the morning on the grounds. Everything was just perfection!

We visited here in early October. Even with COVID-19 protocols in place, it was an amazing visit. The rooms are well appointed with historic furnishings. Bed was comfortable with luxury linens. We ate in both the outside and inside restaurant for dinner, as well as breakfast. The food was delicious as well as moderately priced. We played golf twice, and truly enjoyed the course. We learned that the resort was bequeathed to UVA, and they redid the golf course for their golf team, as well as the public. Additionally, they built tennis courts and stands for their tennis team. We are looking forward to returning once Covid is gone so we can experience the spa as well.

Getaway to Charlottesville. Swimming, hiking & relaxing. Quiet, scenic, nice heated pool. Family trip. Close to Charlottesville’s activities. Rooms are comfortable but not extravagant. Activities are abundant, tennis, golf, swimming, hiking.
