In need of adjustments post-renovation

We have stayed at the Boar’s Head regularly over the last 5-6 years. Since the renovations last year, however, we have noticed that some things are not as good as they used to be and are in need of adjustment. In particular, the technology upgrades are a real disappointment. In lieu of the paper brochure that used to be given on check-in, there are now tablets in the room that we were told contain the same information. The problem is that ours was not successfully connecting to the WiFi, despite a call to the front desk, and so the information was largely inaccessible. Same too for the new in-room televisions, for which only some of the features were functional. The last thing we wanted during a weekend getaway was technology frustrations. The restaurant too is in need of some tweaks. The pasta on the kids menu was a plate of sticky long egg noodles rather than a more practical plate of bite-sized pasta. The kale salad was also basically plate of tough, untenderized kale, that was inedible. Finally the quality of the free coffee in the lobby has gone downhill. It ranged from so-so to terrible on the morning we checked out. I would have provided all of this feedback in private to the hotel rather than leaving this review, but unfortunately the clerk at the front desk could have cared less when I tried to provide this feedback upon feedback. We love coming to the Boar’s Head with our kids and hope these issues are addressed in the future.

Nice respite

We had an outstanding dinner at the Mill restaurant! We drove up for the night to get away and were very pleased with our experience at Boars Head Inn, would love to come again. Would love to visit the spa one day.

We went with a group of 16 for an overnight stay. Great accommodations and staff. Check in and check out went well. The rooms were clean and spacious! Breakfast Sunday morning was very good also. Beautiful anytime of the year!

Just checked in and we were placed in a queen size room advertised as a "Resort King". I called the front desk just to make sure we were not accidentally placed in a queen room and I was told we are in a King room with a king bed... I own a king bed, this is not a King size bed... My wife is 5"3' and her feet hit the end of the bed. The reason we booked here vs. UVA at Darden where our conference is being held is because they only had queen beds and they were at the same price as Boar's Head. Bed size isn't really a big deal, but why am I getting a queen bed at a King's price.

Perfect Getaway!

Beautiful property. Great Happy Hour and dining at the Mill House. Look the Peanut Soup! Historical decor in room and History Hall was very interesting. The lobby was a wonderful place to sit by the fire and read a book. Pastries and coffee in the afternoon was a nice touch. I did Yoga at the Sports Club that was wonderful.
