We are in the midst of an East Coast swing of college visits. As we visited UVA, this resort was highly recommended. It did not disappoint. We hope to return! The facilities (e.g. Mill Room restaurant, spa and use of the local tennis/fitness facility) and staff were all exceptional. For one, I cannot imagine you could find a better athletic facility for use. Indoor/outdoor tennis, fitness, pickleball, basketball, , golf - all within a few steps. (It does need an indoor pool/ hot tub!) The Mill room restaurant was quite good as well. The staff (Eric) and food were excellent. The prices were very reasonable as well.

We try to get to Boar's Head twice a year. It is a perfect place for my husband and me to come. We love Charlottesville. We both play tennis and we take advantage of the amazing tennis facility and the tennis programming. It is great. We will be back again in a few months.

Boars Head Resort Disappointment

I don't understand how the Boars Head Resort could be considered a Four Diamond resort. This was our second stay for an annual UVA weekend function. Last year we reserved a room with two beds so our son could stay in the room with us one night. When we checked in they told us that they were unable to accommodate the Double Queen room that we reserved. When we asked if we could just have a rollaway bed brought in they said that they didn't have any more. Their solution was to bring us extra bedding so he could sleep on the floor. Strike 1! This year, our first room was on the ground floor and smelled very musty. We asked the front desk if we could move to another room and the gentleman said that there were no other rooms available. It was 4pm on Thursday and the parking lots for the hotel rooms were essentially empty as many of the other parents were not coming in until Friday. After continuing to ask for explanations why he could not move us, he relinquished and miraculously found us another room. This gentleman never once said "let me see what we can do" or offered any other solution. The fact that he dug his heals in was appalling and embarrassing for this Four Diamond resort. Strike 2! As for the rooms, most of the resort rooms have not been updated in the past 10 years. The FF&E is old and the tub/showers do not drain so that your are showering in ankle deep water. On the plus side, the bar and breakfast staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Overall, with the new hotel competition in the Charlottesville area, the Boars Head needs to upgrade their rooms and train their Front Desk staff to be more service oriented. After all, they are in the Service Industry. There won't be a Strike 3!

First visit to this property. The room was spacious but the mattress was too soft and left our backs hurting during the day. Sports facilities are good. The Mill Room food was tasty and the service excellent. We would especially commend the service from Nattalia and from the woman from El Salvador.

excellent resort, well located, has all amenities you could ever want. We would definitely stay here again, Had family living nearby until recently so was interested in being in the neighborhood. what more can I say, Charlottesville is a lovely area of the country.
