Rooms dirty, checkin experience not welcoming our helpful. No hot water and misinformed staff about policies all lead to an interesting stay. I would not recommend a visit. Went for a relaxing escape and experienced a test of patience

We need the Boar to come roaring back

Have been staying at the Boar's head for close to 40 years, for family special events, away football weekends from SC, and a base of ops to make forays in/out of DC. We love the resort/amenities of the resort are lovely, but the SPA has now been closed for 9-10 months, and sitting at the pool and thinking of what might have been versus looking at plyboard shuttered SPA is totally un acceptable for property of this level (4 Diamonds?) Making reservations was difficult when you could get someone to answer the phone, I spoke with at least three different staff who gave me either incorrect answers/different prices. Thank god for Shaquille who saved the day, straighten out our reservation, and was the Boar's Head at its best. Check in was a contactless as possible, the room was as expected...a pet peeve with a room that can handle 2-4 guests they only give you one luggage rack, so am I supposed to put my luggage on your furniture? I would have but the small side table was broken? Beds are lovely and the towels in bathroom just what you would expect for higher end resort plus robes in closet with slippers...should I wear em to the SPA?...I guess not. I am hoping that maybe its the Covid challange that's causing the Boar's head to be subpar currently, and maybe it can regain its former glory as we all recovery. A post note, the property is still charging a 20.00 nite resort fee while most amenities are either not available or restricted to local members...

First, from the moment we stepped onto the resort service was 4 stars. The room was spacious and we had a full sized balcony. Loved the barn door style door on the bathroom. Mini fridge in room was a bonus. Make sure you hit Birdsong grill on the resort for breakfast 🍳. Great stay for a long weekend. The views all over the resort are an added bonus.

Lovely Southern charm--casually elegant with a "lived-in" feel. Beautiful views and relaxing, inspiring part of Virginia. Staff was friendly and helpful. (Reservation system seems to not like Wells Fargo!)

We had 5 families coming together for a family reunion. The resort did a great job of placing everyone in the same building with access to a lawn, which allowed each family to have their own rooms and to be together outside most of the time. When we wanted to dine together, they worked with us to confirm our comfort level with indoor seating. They were overly accommodating while also being focused on safety. The activities were great and well managed. The proximity to hiking, UVA, Charlottesville can't be beat.
