Wawona Hotel Yosemite

The Wawona Hotel is one of the most historic hotels in Yosemite National Park. The first cabin built for lodging was in 1856 gave travelers a place to stop and rest and pick up supplies when traveling through the valley. The Wawona Hotel is only 4 miles from the south entrance of the park and 28 miles from the Yosemite Valley, giving its guests a great location in the park without the crowds.

The Wawona Hotel is one of the oldest mountain resort hotels in California and was completely renovated in 2002, giving the hotel its classic Victorian-era style. Each of the rooms is individually decorated with period pieces and antiques to give them a mid-19th-century character. The dining room was also done in a traditional Victorian style with a rustic flare and has a veranda where you can enjoy your dinner and drinks with views of the gardens and valley.

The Wawona Hotel is comparable to European-styled hotels with half of their rooms having private baths and other half using shared restroom facilities. You are able to book a couple of the rooms together making it a great lodging option for families that may need more space. With no televisions, the Wawona Hotel offers plenty of activities for its guests including an on-site golf course, museum and history center, stable rides and close proximity to the Giant Sequoias in Mariposa Grove along with many other activities that are offered throughout Yosemite. There is also a free shuttle service that travels through the park and drops you off at the front door of any and all of the premier hikes and sites of Yosemite.
