The extremely capable Fat Trucks can go just about anywhere and cover virtually any terrain, easily treading over land and water, snow, ice and mud. Crawling over boulders, crossing rivers and driving on lake surfaces.
Denali Fat Truck tours provide guests a unique opportunity to explore the Alaskan Backcountry in total comfort, free from the worry of harsh and unpredictable weather, wildlife, or annoying bugs and insects.

The free shuttle service is only available from local hotels north of the National Park entrance from May through September.

Otto Lake / Dry Creek
Venture into the untamed Alaska Wilderness on an off-road expedition. Experience the rugged terrain in a guided and climate-controlled Search & Rescue Fat Truck or Sherp, offering a safe and comfortable journey away from roads, shielded from the elements, insects, and wildlife. This exhilarating 3-hour tour climbs steep mining trails to reach panoramic vista points, providing insights into the local history and geological formations near Denali National Park within an adventurous SHERP Rescue Vehicle. (Allow approximately 3.5-4 hours if utilizing the hotel shuttle service from designated locations during the summer.)
This off-road adventure begins with pickup at local hotels or arrival at the trailhead. Guests will meet their guide for a vehicle familiarization and safety briefing before embarking on a ride to various lookout points, culminating at the Upper Lookout for photos, drone footage (weather permitting), and informative insights. The journey continues to the Dry Creek Riverbed to explore the cliffs and learn about the area's geology, followed by a ride to Otto Lake for an amphibious experience on the water or a visit to the ice-covered lake in winter (with ice cleats provided). The tour concludes with a return to the trailhead, where drone video download (if applicable) and a visit to the gift shop are offered before departure via shuttle or personal vehicle. Embark on a full-day adventure from Fairbanks to Denali National Park and back, traveling in safe, comfortable vehicles with knowledgeable Alaskan guides for an extraordinary experience. Shuttle pickup is available from Fairbanks hotels, local B&Bs, or Fairbanks International Airport. Commercial Drone Pilot skills are utilized for wildlife spotting, photography, and video sharing of this unique adventure with your friends and family, weather permitting (see examples in the web gallery). This tour includes the captivating 3-hour SHERP Excursion.
Experience a full-day winter adventure from Fairbanks to Denali National Park and back, traveling in comfort and safety with knowledgeable Alaskan guides. This 10-12 hour tour, running from October to April, includes convenient hotel and airport pickup in Fairbanks. The journey south offers potential views of Denali (weather permitting) en route to Denali National Park's Visitor Center, where guests can get their passport stamped, take photos, and meet park rangers (park entrance fee included for non-pass holders). A stop for lunch in Healy precedes an exciting 2.5-hour off-road Denali Fat Truck tour in a heated and enclosed SHERP vehicle, exploring old mining trails to scenic lookouts, the Dry Creek area with its frozen palisades, and Otto Lake for an amphibious experience or ice travel (seasonal). The return trip includes a visit to the historic Coghills Store/Trading Post in Nenana before drop-off at Fairbanks hotels, the airport, or a preferred restaurant around 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
