Denali Backcountry Guides has been a leader at providing guided, interpretive wilderness walks, hikes and backcountry adventures in the Denali area for nearly a quarter century! Each of the professionals that serve as interpretive guides at Denali Backcountry Guides (DBG) boast a minimum of 5 years experience at guiding in the Alaska backcountry prior to their coming on board with (DBG).

The Denali Walking Tour is for those you are a little more pressed for time, or a little more reserved in their ideas of adventure. This tour is a more laid back easy nature walk located in a scenic natural area that is a little closer in to the Denali Village, but still set apart enough to give you a sense of adventure. The trails you will be on would best be described as moderate, with some elevation gain and loss, but nothing too strenuous. There may be some shallow puddles and mud that you have to deal with during certain times of the year, so please com prepared with the right gear for the adventure. Sturdy shoes, layers for warmth, and rain gear are suggested.
The Denali Walking Tour can be adjusted to fit the needs and desires of you and your party, but generally speaking the tour covers about 3 to 4 miles of trail at a rate of about 1-mile per hour with frequent stops for rests, snacks and drinks (you must bring your own), and discussion about the flora and fauna of the area.
This tour is a great option for those who want to get out and experience the beauty of the Denali area and learn a great deal about their surroundings but are not looking for anything too difficult or strenuous. This is actually one of the most popular tours offered by Denali Backcountry Guides.

Ready for a fast-paced, rigorous adventure? The 4-Hour Interpretive Wilderness Hike is an intense tour designed for fit travelers who want to cover significant ground in a shorter amount of time.
This hike offers a challenge level similar to our 5-Hour tour but with a more focused duration. Led by an expert guide, you’ll receive rich interpretive narration while experiencing the stunning beauty of the forests and alpine tundra.
To maintain this intensity and access a wider variety of terrain, we often venture into remote areas just outside the National Park, allowing us to go off-trail.
This tour is perfect if you are seeking a demanding, information-rich, and efficient wilderness experience.

This backcountry adventure takes you a little further into the wilderness areas in and around Denali National Park and provides you more time to explore and discover the richness of the area.
The hiking tour is a more strenuous adventure than the walking tour, so participants should be in pretty good physical shape and should not be afraid of more moderate to strenuous elevation gain during the adventure.
The hiking tour will give you opportunities to explore some fascinating areas in the forest along the Nenana River as well as the beauty and robust environment of the sub-alpine tundra areas which are popular hangouts for a variety of wildlife.
