The Willows Garden
This hillside garden is a secluded spot where Einstein liked to meditate in the early mornings. It's a splendid hilltop retreat where you can take in the sweeping panorama of the entire Coachella Valley from the Little San Bernardino Mountains to the north almost to the Salton Sea in the southeast. It's beautifully landscaped with colorful desert plants in brilliant shades of yellow, blue, violet and red. There are little secluded sitting areas up there furnished with wrought iron chairs and tables where you can sit.
O'Donnell House Gardens
The top of the hill near the O'Donnell House affords a quiet retreat from which to ponder the details of historic Palm Springs as it stretches out below. In the early morning the mountain upon which one is perched becomes bathed in a deep ochre color for just a few precious minutes while the sun rises. This awe-inspiring spectacle starts at the top of the mountain and progresses down the hill to Palm Springs Village in virtually the blink of an eye. In the evening, on the other hand, one can enjoy a glass of wine after the sun sets behind the San Jacinto mountains. The illumination of the San Bernardino Mountains continues until the first stars appear in the sky.
Hillside Garden Paths
Through the wrought iron gate at The Willows Historic Palm Springs Inn have stepped many well-known guests including such Hollywood darlings such Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, to Albert Einstein and his wife, Elsa. Once welcomed beyond the gate, guests are afforded total privacy from Palm Springs Village only a short stroll away. Beyond the gate, calmness is exuded that transcends the luxurious inn and its lush grounds. Only the waterfall can be gently heard, a relaxing sound that helps to relax the spirit.
Bougainvillea
Vibrant colored bougainvilleas grace the Mediterranean-style walls and archways of The Willows Historic Palm Springs Inn. Their sensational color adds beautiful décor to the inn's already magical architecture.
