Jet Skiing
A national park vacation offers more than great scenery.  Many of our national parks have a large supply of protected waters.  Although most national parks don’t permit motorized vehicles inside the part water sporting options are available outside several national parks.

Places like Lake Powell and Lake Havasu have become famous for their many water recreational activities, among which jet skiing is becoming highly popular.

Water Skiing
Water-skiing is an exciting and challenging sport. However, like all "fast-action" sports that are fun, it does possess an element of risk. Many national parks have large lakes and do permit some form of the activity.  There are also many options outside but still in close proximity to your national park.  Parks like Glacier, Yellowstone, and Zion offer many out of park options that you will be able to enjoy along with your national park vacation.

For some summer just isn’t summer unless you get to splash around in the water so ask your agent for local water skiing in they areas you’re going to.

Wake Boarding
Wakeboarding is a surface water sport which involves riding the wake of a speed boat on a single board. It was developed from a combination of water skiing, snow boarding and surfing techniques. The rider is towed behind a boat typically at slower speeds than a waterskiier.  Wakeboarders have mastered many tricks and maneuvers that make this a grand summer time activity.

Many lakes in and around the national parks system offer wakeboarding as an option for your summer vacation.  In addition places like Lake Havasu and Lake Mead are popular water activity parks for novice and expert wakeboarder alike.  If you want to know where you can wakeboard on your next national park vacation just ask your reservations agent.

Swimming
Ooh, I go swimming, swimming in the water
Swimming in the river, swimming in the sea
I go swimming
I go swimming, swimming in the water
Swimming in the pool, swimming is cool
I go swimming
(Peter Gabriel “I Go Swimming)

For some the best thing about summer is getting that refreshing experience found only in a large body of water.  National Parks are known for their many exceptionally clear and inviting lakes and rivers.  Swimming is perhaps one of the most popular of activities at any given national park.  Although there are some swimming restrictions, you will find that there are plenty of plunging opportunities when you take a national park vacation.
