Your Glacier National Park vacation would not be complete without a fishing adventure along the border of the park and Flathead National Forest. The Middle Fork and the North Fork of the Flathead River are prized for their pristine waters and great fishing.
Rainbow, Brown and Westslope Cutthroat Trout are the sought after species in this area. Preservation is very important to the stewards of this river system, so barbless flies are required as well as catch and release ethics and a fishing license.
Half-day and full-day fishing trips are designed for one or two anglers with one fishing guide per boat. More people can be accommodated with supplemental fishing guides and boats. Full-day fishing includes a buffet style, river-side deli lunch. Your guide will help you with your equipment and give you the inside information on the local techniques and secrets. If you want to polish up your fly fishing skills, full-day fishing school is available. Come wet your flies to the sound of the babbling waters in arguably one of the most beautiful places on earth.
For the high adventurers, turn any overnight rafting trip into a fishing expedition. For those who like the idea of getting a little wet and enjoying the whitewater sections of the river as well as the granddaddy fishing holes, the Middle Fork of the Flathead is the best choice. For anglers who prefer to keep the waters mellow and stick to fishing, try an overnight float on the North Fork of the Flathead River. Either way, the fishing is great and the guides are there to accommodate your needs.
