McKinley Chalet Resort

Overlooking the Nenana River is the rustic elegance of McKinley Chalet Resort. A recently remodeled upscale resort just one mile from the Denali Park entrance. Heavy on cedar, the lodge has several buildings tucked into forest, all connected by boardwalks, and this Swiss chalet feel makes it more intimate than its 345 rooms suggest. Choose from deluxe rooms or upscale, cedar-lodge mini-sites. The “upper” rooms at the McKinley Chalet Resort have great views of the river, while “lower” rooms are situated in a quiet spruce forest along the shore of the Nenana River.

When you’re not spending a day touring Denali National Park, the convenient location of McKinley Chalet Resort provides easy access to other outdoor activities. You’ll find extensive shuttle service, which runs between the hotel and rail depot, Denali visitor center, and other local attractions.

Inside the lodge, there’s both casual and fine dining, along with a specialty coffee shop. The Alaska Cabin Nite Dinner Theatre is within easy walking distance. In the lobby, you’ll find interpretive exhibits and park programs, all to give you a better understanding of the area. Browse for native crafts in the expanded gift shop, or have your picture taken at the Old Sourdough Studio, sitting atop an Alaska moose or riding a giant wild salmon.

During the shoulder season, the McKinley Chalet offers some good deals, often in conjunction with Alaska Railroad.

McKinley Chalet Resort is located approximately half a mile from Denali National Park and Preserve and 120 miles from Fairbanks International Airport. The resort occupies several acres of spruce forest on the banks of the Nenana River and three miles from Denali National Park Visitor Center.
