Picnicking
Acadia National Park boasts beautiful scenery of rugged coast of Maine. The park is home to many plants and animals. Taking time out to just relax and enjoy the scenery is one of the best things you can do when visiting Acadia! To help you do just that Acadia provides clean picnic area on Thompson Island. The picnic area is right on the coast and has a large grassy area for recreation. It is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM during season.
Tidepooling
Beach combing, exploring wild life forms and peering into tiny worlds is what tide pooling is all about. Acadia National Park, along the coast of Maine, is the perfect place to enjoy this interesting and fun activity. Barnacles, mussels, sea stars, anemones, and sometimes even crabs or young lobsters are found in the inter tidal zone. Tide pooling takes just a little bit of patience so it is a wonderful relaxing activity.
Ice Fishing
In parts of the country where winters can be long and hard ice fishing has become an entertaining and fruitful activity. Acadia National Park in Maine is one such place! Though many facilities are closed here in the winter ice fishing is a popular activity in Acadia when weather conditions permit.
